Trading out of my OF conundrum...WHIR!!

Postby pre1322 » Fri May 29, 2009 2:34 pm

In my 10-team H2H keeper league, I have the problem everyone loves to have...too many solid OF. I also have holes at C and 3B with injuries to Doumit, ARam and now Iannetta.

I have 2 trades in my head, basing them off of the other manager offering MCab and Hamels for my Braun, Markakis/Kemp and Konerko. I don't really want Hamels too much. Which should I offer first, taking into account my team listed below? Either trade would allow me to pick up a WW catcher, which I desperately need for the next week. This is a 1st place team, so I don't want to tinker too much, just move some players around to fill holes, and to get Justin Upton in the lineup (is he for real?)

TRADE 1:
I give Braun and Konerko for MCab

TRADE 2:
I give Braun, Markakis and Konerko for MCab and Bay

QUESTION: Keep Markakis or sell? The guy badly wants him.

My team: 6x6 scoring w/HLDs and OPS
C: Empty
1B: Joey Votto
2B: Asdrubal Cabrera
3B: Mark DeRosa
SS: Jimmy Rollins
OF: Ryan Braun
OF: Carlos Lee
OF: Nick Markakis
UTIL: Matt Kemp
BN: Chris Davis, Paul Konerko, Justin Upton, Chris Iannetta DL
DL: Aramis Ramirez, Ryan Doumit

SP: Zack Greinke
SP: Yovani Gallardo
SP: Adam Wainwright
RP: Jonathan Broxton
RP: Francisco Cordero
P: Heath Bell
P: James Shields
BN: David Price, Francisco Liriano

Thanks, leave a link and I will get to it in an hour after my run.

This might be a little crazy but if the guy wants Markakis that bad I would see if he would go for Markakis and Votto for Mcab. You might have to add another player, but I would just see how bad he wants him.

I'd suggest trying the first trade and using the second as a counter if he balks at the first. They seem like fair offers. His offer is a little greedy. It's tough to come up with a different counter without knowing his roster. The other suggestion of Markakis and Votto for Cabrera is a little much for me. I'd prefer countering with Markakis and DeRosa for Cabrera. Or Markakis, Konerko, and DeRosa for Cabrera, depending on who's available on the WW for you in case Votto doesn't improve soon...

I'm not sure about Upton, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's for real. He has a lot of upside. I had him last year and was pretty disappointed, but he seems to be living up to his potential this year.

I like trade 2 a lot better than trade 1 obviously.. see if he would go Markakis for Bay straight up? That's a great deal for you if you can get it. If not then I'd say take deal 2, you're getting two studs and only losing 1 in Braun. I like that deal for you.

Help?

I would do either trade if I were you but I like trade 2 the best. You would be getting two studs in return who outweigh who you would be giving up. Offer it up and see what happens.

please help
