Give up on Saves? WHIR

Give up on Saves? WHIR

Postby mw24x » Fri May 29, 2009 12:49 pm

Hey guys, I'm new to Fantasy Baseball and I'm in a 16 team H2H league that counts: R, AVG, RBI, HR, SB, W, WHIP, ERA, SV, K

I'm currently leading in K's, SB's and Wins and almost dead last in Saves, RBI and AVG.

I have Frank Francisco as my only closer and in each match up I lose the Saves category. I was wondering, should I trade Francisco for a big bat and just accept that I will always lose in the Saves category? Currently there is another team that is low on SB's and Saves and they have shown interest in Figgins (SB Leader) and Francisco.

I was thinking of proposing a trade that would get me: Votto 1B/Sandoval 3B for Figgins 3B/Francisco CP

So... should I take advantage of the other team's desperation for saves and stolen bases to get a few good bats (RBI/AVG) while giving up on saves... or should I go after a closer to make up for my lack of saves?

My Team:

I've actually scrapped categories before as well, and it's worked very well. People very often over value saves, whereas saves can come easily on the waiver wire. That said, I'd offer that deal with Votto/Fransisco. That'd greatly help your team, granted you're surrenduring you saves category

I would hate to give up on any category. But your reasoning is sound better win RBI and AVG and lose saves than lose all 3.
yahoo H2H league, 10 teams
c - Wieter
1b- Yuk
2nd - Kinsler
3rd - Zimm
SS - Guzman
OF - Braun
OF - Abreu
OF - Span
util – Rios
bn – Soriano, Frucal
DL- A Cabrera
SP – Lee, Santana, Liriano, Hudson, Price , Peavy, Niemann
RP – Rodriguez, Valverde, Qualls

I agree -- better to make it to the dance at least with great production in MOST categories than to worry about touching on all of them but not well enough to make it to the playoffs.

in other words, take the better talent/produciton here and get Votto.
