I know this should be a no-brainer, but do I pull the trigger? Do I give up Granderson and Sherrill for Braun?
My team now: C - V Martinez 1B - Berkman 2B - Barmes 3B - Chris Davis SS - Zobrist (while Reyes is on the DL) OF - Granderson OF - Nelson Cruz OF - Werth UTIL - Votto Bench - Corey Hart Bench - Brandon Phillips DL - Jose Reyes
SP - Greinke SP - Peavy SP - Carpenter SP - Scherzer SP - Kershaw SP - Price RP - Bell RP - Francisco Cordero RP - Aardsma RP - Sherrill DL - Webb
As you can see, I really need a 3B, but the best offer I've had is to give up Carpenter & Bell for Lowell. NOT.
My real concern is that I lose the ability to trade something that several players in my league really want, a quality reliever, for a good 3B.
George Sherrill gives every Orioles fan a nightmare every time he steps out. I remember I needed a save, and was up by a bit in ERA and WHIP...he gets 0 outs, giving up 3 walks and then a bases-clearing double. That's not unusual. He's too unreliable, imho. And when Chris Ray is healthy and pitching well...Sherrill might be WORTHLESS.
Make sure you send this guy a Christmas card after this trade goes through. You will lose some SB with Granderson gone, but will make it up when Reyes gets back.
I accepted the trade and am just waiting for it to clear.
My big concern was that I really need a quality 3B and my RPs are a good bargaining chip. Giving up one of them for an OF upgrade wasn't what I had in mind, but that's the offer I got when trying to trade for ARod. I don't think I'm gonna be able to upgrade 3B through a trade, so I'll just have to keep my eye on the WW!
