Postby saemick » Thu May 28, 2009 12:47 pm

Is this kid for real? Shoudl I drop one of my current SP's for Porcello? below is my staff:

SP: Hamels, Haren, Verlander, Harang, Meche, Price, Maholm
RP: Capps, Lindstrom
DL: Soria
This is a H2H Yahoo! NON-KEEPER league with the scoring cat's as follows:
Hitters: R, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, PO, A, E Pitchers: W, L, CG, SHO, SV, BB, K, NH

I'm thinking of dropping either Meche or Maholm for him...thoughts?

Porcello is absolutely for real. I would grab him for Meche or Price - probably Meche, unless Price struggles in his next start or two.

Keep Meche and Price for now. Meche is a solid veteran and Price has more upside than Porcello.

I'd give Price at least a few more starts before you write him off...if he hasn't shown much at that point then look to drop him for someone like Porcello.

Why not drop Malholm for him instead of Price or Meche?

Maholm's actually been pretty good this year:

3-1 with 34k's this year...

Any more thoughts?

drop maholom.. He is on pace to win 10 games and 115k, and a era in the 4's. He is not really going to win games. Porcello doesnt strike out much either but probably will win more games, But his era should inflate and probably will hit a rough patch in the second half, when the league figures him out as the same happened volquez, cueto, etc last year. Bottom line, its a wash. I probably would drop maholom for the upside but i can also justify dropping meche.

I picked up Porcello a couple weeks ago and he's really helped me out. I would drop Maholm for him, personally.

And while I understand the people who advise against dropping Meche, it wouldn't bother me too much to part with him. Yes, he's a solid vet, etc., but I just don't think he's right. His back was giving him trouble and I wonder if it isn't still bothering him. I recently dropped him but I have several pretty good SP options and so do you.

Oh, and Go, Cubs, go!
