Mixed league, 10 teams, 6x6 H2H, redraft league. I am currently in 4th place doing pretty well. A guy in my league really wants Utley and offered me Ian Kinsler and Alex Rios for my Chase Utley and Max Scherzer. What do you think, should I pull the trigger, counter or stay put?
i say no. Rios might get better and Kinsler is, according to yahoo! stat rankings at least, a better player than Utley; but, Scherzer is what makes me not like this. I think he has 10ks in each of his last two starts, both wins. He is a top 10 or 5 pitcher for the past couple of weeks and there is no reason to think he is just a throwaway player in this deal. If you want kinsler, counter with maholm or slowey instead of scherzer in the deal.
Really tough call. But I'm leaning towards no as well.
As an Utley owner, I couldn't see ever trading him. He's been hurt and not performing like he usually does, and based on the past Kinsler will reach that point sometime this season. You can afford to trade scherzer with the staff you have, especially in a re-draft and now might be the time to sell after his recent success. Not saying that he's going to be awful from here on out, but I doubt he gets another two 10-K games in the next two weeks. Also, I'm not confident in Rios. We're two months into the season and he's still not reached the numbers we all expected thus far. I would maybe try to swap who he's offering. Maybe shoot for Longoria instead of Kinsler? But then I'm not sure who you could have play at 2B.
Hmm, I know this is a tough one but anyone else have an opinion? If no, maybe I could counter with Kinsler and Kemp for Utley and Maholm? Would that be much better? This guy really wants Utley so I think he may go for it. Or any other ideas out there?
I'm gonna agree with the above posters. W/o regurgitating what was already said, I just have this feeling that Kinsler is gonna get hurt sooner or later & Rios hasn't really been putting up the #'s so far this season. Utley will pick it up, and when he does, I'd want him on my team.
Yes Scherzer can be replaced, but I just don't think this really helps your team enough to pull the trigger.
