Trade for Reyes now? whir

Postby lyons595 » Wed May 27, 2009 11:39 am

I have been looking at Reyes all year and now seems be the time to get him His owner actually offered him to me, but the asking price was CRAZY. It doesn't look like his injury is major and I'd rather have him on the DL for 2 weeks than stick with JJ Hardy all year. I know his owner is lookign for 3B, OF help and SP and I think I can take advantage of that.

I have offered this package:
Youkalis, Pence, Jurrjens
for
Reyes, Hamels
I would add Reynolds or Sandoval as my 3B.

Id also be willingto swap Cruz for Pence, and decrease my asking price on Hamels for Shields/Carpenter/Bedeard. THOUGHTS???

if your willing to cut ties with Youk at a thin 3b position, at least no one can say you're low balling this guy. I do think, however, you will have to replace hamels with either shields/bedard/carpenter to get the deal done. (i like carpenter the most out of those 3, but you have to be willing to take the injury risk). Do NOt offer Cruz in place of Pence.

good luck

I don't think you could get Hamels. If you really want this to happen then put Shields in the trade instead. He might be a good buy low as I see him turning it around from here on out.

Help?

I agree.. no way you get Hamels as well. Aim for shields, it's still worth it

If you could squeeze Hamels out then the trade works well for you.
Youk is tough to give up, 3rd is a tough slot to fill this year.

thanks for help on mine.

I'd go for Shields as i don't see you getting Hamels. Use Pence rather than Cruz

Personally i don't like Reyes but he is a huge upgrade from Hardy so can't blame you for targeting him.

Yeah I agree that Hamels would be difficult to acquire even with his struggles. Shields might be a much cheaper option that does not compromise much. I would also rather see you trade Abreu then Pence b/c I think that his SB rate will slow down. Nelson Cruz is definitely a solid outfielder that should get some playing time. Good luck.

Thanks for the help on mine.
