Pick up Chris Davis off of the Waivers??

Postby twinkypoop » Wed May 27, 2009 9:28 am

This is for a 12 team 5x5 Cat Roto League, and I am one of the two bottom dwelling teams, partly due to draft picks not panning out (Aviles, Rios, & my SP's: more on that later), injuries to ARam, Braun and Weeks, and slow starts out of many of my top picks.

I did trade A-Cab for Lind, right before Lind cooled off, and traded Corpas for Weeks, and got 3 good weeks out of Weeks, but slow starts all around are killing me.

Another owner dropped Chris Davis in my league, and I have the 3rd position in my league for Waivers.
Is Davis worth using my Waiver position? I understand that he is streaky and strikes out a LOT, but I also see him with a lot of upside & protected in the Rangers line up, & when he comes out of his slump, he may out hit Branyan in the long run... (2HRs and 2Ks last night...)

Or Theriot? He was recently dropped as well and I can use his Runs and SB's if the Cubs lineup start hitting...

My roster is as follows:
C: Navarro
1B: Berkman
2B: A Cabrera
SS: Hairston
3B: Branyan
OF: Braun, Bay, Rios, Ethier, Abreau, Cuddyer
BN: Iannetta
DL: A Ramirez

SP: Liriano, F Hernandez, Lilly, Danks, G Floyd, Josh Johnson, Scott Richmond
RP: Nathan, Wood

Thanks for the help in advance!

Yeah, I'd do it for Branyan. If you're a bottom dweller now, then you probably need to make a bold move or two. This is certainly a roll of the dice, but if it clicks for CD at some point this year, you're golden. The dude has the easiest power you'll ever see. Even if he only raises his BA to .250, he could hit 40 bombs. That's real nice from a 3b.

He reminds me of Dan Uggla with more strikeouts. If he was on waivers in my league I would take him, but he was drafted and is too expensive to trade for. he has the dual eligibility of Branyan for this year at least. If you are as far down as I am in my league, go for it!

Definitely do it for Branyan, whose track record insists that his start is not for real.

I'm not a big fan of Davis at all, but I'd rather have him than Branyan. Also, I'd much rather have Theriot than Hairston, so if you can get both of those guys, I like your team a lot better.

Thanks for the replies!
I own CD in my other H2H team, and his pop has helped in quite a few weeks. I do agree that Branyan does not have the record to back up his current performance.

Theriot would also be an upgrade as well...

Should I burn my third ww position on him to upgrade my SS, or see if he would clear waivers and use my ww position on CD?
