Jason Bartlett to DL

Postby ROC AllStars » Tue May 26, 2009 8:27 pm

FYI. Anyone have any information on the severity of the sprain?

"Bartlett was placed on the 15-day DL prior to Tuesday's game because of a sprained ankle, the Tampa Tribune reports.

Spin: Reid Brignac is starting at shortstop for the second straight game and he'll likely get a significant amount of playing time with Bartlett on the shelf. Joe Dillon was recalled from Triple-A to take his place on the roster."

Roto World

Jason Bartlett is progressing well from a sprained ankle, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Barlett hit off a tee Wednesday and will do the same Thursday in addition to performing running drills as he continues to work on his injured ankle. The shortstop hasn't ruled out returning from the disabled list when he's eligible next Wednesday. More will be known as he ramps up his running drills over the weekend.

Roto Wire

Jun 4 Bartlett (ankle) has started hitting off a tee, the Associated Press reports.

Recommendation: It was originally thought that Bartlett would spend the minimum 15 days on the DL, but trainer Ron Porterfield said he is "not 100 percent sure" he will be ready by then (June 10).

Stats Inc

Jun 3 Bartlett, who has missed nine games due to a sprained left ankle, is making progress but is still experiencing soreness. injured regulars.

Advice: He might not be ready to return when he's eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list on June 10, which is disappointing for Tampa Bay considering he leads the Rays with a .373 average

"Rays manager Joe Maddon doesn't believe that Bartlett (ankle) will be ready to return once he's eligible on Wednesday, the St. Petersburg Times reports.

Spin: The good news for Bartlett owners is that he's not expected to be out much longer than that. Still, it remains to be seen if he'll be swinging anything close to the red-hot bat he had prior to going on the DL."
