J. Upton for Peavy (big trade)

Postby jordan9148 » Tue May 26, 2009 2:49 pm

16 team standard ROTO. I'm near last in era/whip, Ks, doing well in most offensive categories, 12th place overall. I was offered Peavy/Headley/Kotchman/Villanueva for J. Upton/Duke/Maine/Hughes. Is this way too much? other team has the following aditional players of interest: Mark reynolds, Lind, Zumaya, harden, pettite, ryan franklin.

help me i'll help you

My roster:
C: Navaro
C: Laird
1b: P. Fielder
2b: Counsell
ss: Y. escobar
3b: Zimmerman
1b/3b: Garko
2b/ss: C. Burke
of: Hamilton
of: Braun
of: Adam Jones
of: Justin Upton
of: D. Span
utl: C. Maybin
P: J. Shields
P: Volstad

The fact that you're turning Upton into a top pitcher is great but the fact that you're decimating you're already putrid pitching staff in the process isn't a smart move and that's why I have to pass on this deal. With Maine, Duke, and Hughes on their way out, and the likes of Blanton and Pavano actually on a team, I shudder to think of the garbage that will ultimately have to replace the guys you're giving up. I pass.

Help?

other owner added C Buchholz instead of Duke. Now it's Peavy/Headley/Kotchman/Villanueva for J. Upton/Buchholz/Maine/Hughes Does this change things?

Buchholz is a nice long term piece, but the guy won't see the majors until LATE in the season unless the Sox staff gets hit by a plethora of injuries or he's traded for a bat. With that being said, I like that better for you.

If you can handle the average hit, I'd go for Reynolds instead of Headley or Kotchman and if he'll still do Buchholz, I'd do it. If you can't pull off both of those switches, no go.
