I could use an upgrade as SS (I've got Tulo) and see Rollins heating up. I made a couple of offers for him, and have been countered with my Peavy and Frank Francisco for his Rollins and Liriano. I can easily afford to give up a closer, but not sure I want to lose Peavy. Rest of my starting staff is Grienke, Bedard, Oswalt and Jered Weaver. Still, best player in the trade is Rollins, right? Would you do it? Your thoughts? As always, WHIR.

Thanks for your input on my question (Braun/Wade for Billingsley/Schafer). I think that I have to pull the trigger. Peavy will more than likely get traded and if its some place like the White Sox, it will only hurt him. He is great, but the upgrade to Rollins and the possibility of Liriano (who has shown flashes lately) could be a definite win for you. Of course, that's just the way I see it panning out.

something is just not right with Liriano, and Peavy is a top tier arm. While Rollins is a definite upgrade (and i see Rollins getting hotter and hotter), Tulo is no slouch. Tulo will turn it around, look what he did in the second half of last year.
i'd stay with what you got, unless you can get an upgrade from Liriano (that's just me)
I think it depends on Liriano. Losing Peavy hurts your staff, there's no doubt about that, but if Liriano can snap out of the rut he's been in he can make your staff go from good to great. Rollins is definitely an upgrade over Tulo at SS. I think it comes down to how bad you want to upgrade at SS. If you love Rollins and can deal with losing Peavy, and hope that Liriano comes back strong take the deal. Personally for me, this is a close call, but in most cases I'd take the upgrade at hitter and make the deal.
I would steer clear -- I traded Peavy and Lind a few weeks ago for Soriano and Slowey, and while it was a great deal, my staff took a big hit over the last few weeks. So the other day I traded Liriano and Damon for Peavy and Chris B. Young (yes, got Peavy back!). The moral of the story -- Peavy is in a way rather underrated. I didn't appreciate his presence in my rotation until he was shipped off. Liriano had his last start for me yesterday and he got bombed by Boston ... he may well improve as the year progresses, but he is not the same guy that rattled off 11 wins with a 1.94 ERA in '06. Also, I have Rollins and he is overrated IMO -- better off paying something small for a Bartlett or even a Jeter...
I am a huge Peavy fan...when he is healthy, IMO he is among the best SP in all of FB. (I had both him and Johan two years ago and got more/better offers for Peavy than Johan). I do like Rollins, but to me Liriano is not worth the risk. Also, Francisco is drastically underrated, especially for an improving Texas team, so more S opportunities. Bottom Line: no.
Can you help with mine (unable to post link but "Cantu for Figgins" trade)? Thanks.
thansk for your help with mine... IMO, I agree with Tulo turning it around and Peavy being too valuable... I wouldn't make the trade simply because when Tulo turns it around there isn't much of a difference between what you'll get from him or Rollins, and Liriano, who I am a big fan of, is definitely not the same pitcher we all expected... I am sure it is enticing to get Rollins, but not at the expense of one of the top 3 pitchers in the game... thanks again...
