After smoking one to dead center, over Hunter's head, he pulled up lame at 2B. He was carried off the field. I think he told the trainer he popped it. So I'm guessing something in his foot popped. To make matters worse for me, I literally just accepted an offer for him like 20 minutes before the game started!!
CQ said to the White Sox dugout that "he heard something pop" while standing at 2B. The injury flare-up happened about halfway to 1B and he trotted into second. Good news is he hobbled off the field on his own power, but looks like another setback I'm afraid.
Yahoo has it down as plantar fasciitis (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/748 ... Nbld6FCLcF), which I've actually had a couple of times. The good news is that there's no real risk of long-term damage and it usually doesn't recur if treated properly. The bad news is that it normally takes 4-6 weeks to heal, not 2. While it feels a lot better after 2 weeks than after a day or two, it is still real tough to run, or even walk without a cane. While CQ is a really tough guy, I'm not surprised at all that he's had to come out of some games. Honestly the best thing to do would be to put him on the DL. By mid June he should be totally fine, though.
