I am looking to move Adam Jones or Jermaine Dye PLUS a SP for a top-tier SP. My OF is loaded, so the loss of one of these guys will not hurt much at all. My SPS are: Greinke C. Lee Oswalt Dempster Lowe Scherzer
What type of starter could I get for one of the OFers and one of my SPs? I want to keep Greinke and C. Lee. (I forgot to mention that this is a 6 player keeper. I have at least 6 offensive keepers, but obviously Greinke will be staying with me, so I got some decisions to make)
I am looking towards a Bills/Haren/Hamels type, though Hamels and Haren may be hard to pry in a keeper. I may have to go with Bills or lower. Any insight? I really want one more ACE to keep my ratios down and add some wins plus K/9. THNXS
Jones should have a lot of value in your league. A young breakout guy vs Dye who doesn't have much left in the tank. Why not start at the bottom and work your way up with offers. Nobody says the first offer has to be the one.
Dye + Scherzer for Billingsley
Scherzer has the upside and could put things together which the owner might be interested in and Dye gives him a lot of help in the OF, if it's needed, for this season. But then again, two young breakout guys for one that just came into form could be the perfect fit. Jones + Scherzer.
I wouldn't say Dye doesn't have much left in the tank. he is consistantly hitting 30 hrs and 90 plus rbi. If anything he will continue and Jones may tail off. Yes the future is Jones but don't sell Dye short.

Not sure I'm selling him short. I see him as a top 60 bat (by my league's points settings) the rest of the way, but longterm (2-3 years down the road) is what I'm looking at. Everybody eventually tails off, and Dye will do the same at some point.
And agreed on Jones. I think tails off, but still plenty of potential there to grow over the next few years.

The guy saying "I wouldn't say Dye doesn't have much left in the tank" is thinking from a yearly league. If you get to keep Jones or Dye for years, you keep Jones. This year Dye will be fine; but what about the next four years? Jones is the guy in a keeper between the two.
I think Dye (always underrated) is more productive than Jones, but Jones probably has more trade value since he's younger and most people in keeper leagues are enamored with young talent.
I think you could package Jones and Scherzer (another young talent) and try to get Billingsley or Haren and go from there. A lot just depends on what the owners of the guys have in terms of need. If one of them needs an OF, you might be able to get it done on the first offer.
Because of the nice response to this, I will throw out my top players. Remember, this is a 6 Player Keeper!! I am in FIRST right now, but when do I think of trading possible keepers for better ones? I can make a case for maybe 9 guys to keep right now! 1b Dunn 2b Roberts 3b Davis ss Rollins of Braun of Hamilton of Justin Upton util Adrian Gonzalez bn Adam Jones bn Jermaine Dye
