Santana for Quentin?

Postby pangbones » Sun May 24, 2009 10:36 pm

I've been making offers for Quentin using E Santana as the centerpiece of my offer. I've been counter offered Carlos Quentin and Ricky Nolasco for B Hawpe and E Santana. I would drop Nolasco if I do it, since I'll have Ludwick coming off the DL next week. I'm a little worried about Quentin's heel problem. Not real sure how serious it is, but I have read recently that he'll have to play through it for the rest of the year. But I'm more worried about Santana's elbow. I decided a while ago I'd shop him, if he came back and pitched well right away. So what do you guys think?

C - McCann
1B - A Gonzalez
2B - Uggla
3B - Wright
SS - Furcal
OF - Braun, Werth, Hawpe
Util - Pena, Thome
DL - Ludwick

Bench - Taveras, S Drew

SP - Haren, Peavy, J Shields, Bedard, Maine, Joba
RP - Qualls, Aardsma
Bench -E Santana, Baker, J Zimmermann, T Hanson, Lindstrom, Rodney

10 Team, 6*6 (OBP and K's for hitters and L's for Pitchers), H2H, Keeper (3 players, at least 1 hitter and 1 pitcher)

I like the Hawpe deal if you can get it done. Thanks for the help.

I'd do the Quentin deal easily and would drop Jordan Zimmermann instead of Nolasco when you activate Ludwick.

I agree ^^. You're buying as low as possible on Quentin/Nolasco, and I do think Quentin will make a comeback. Had to expect he'd get banged up at some point this season - but he's still a top 50 hitter IMO, which makes this worth it. I don't have confidence in Nolasco anymore but a lot still do, I'd say go for it even if it was just Quentin so yeah, do it.

Thanks for the help on mine.

I agree with the above -- hang onto Nolasco after and drop Zimmerman.

I have Quentin, Nolasco, and E. Santana on my team. I can tell you I would take the Quentin/Nolasco trade, and quickly. I just have Nolasco on my bench until he gets his game back (I believe he will), and Quentin is just too good to pass up.

I would do that deal, but I wouldn't drop Nolasco. Stash him away or see if you can flip him and trade him for something. I find it hard to believe he won't come back and have a strong second half.

I like this deal, but Quentin has a history of injuries - give his upside though, I think it might be worth taking the risk since you are not giving up a ton

i think i would do the deal, then drop either zimmerman or nolasco. judging by nolasco's performace this year, its a coin flip.
