Gabrielle Schoeneweis found dead

Postby Tenacious D-Store » Sun May 24, 2009 3:32 pm

Gabrielle Schoeneweis (wife of Scott Schoeneweis) was found dead in their home on Wednesday. There is heavy speculation that the cause of death was a suicide but nothing has been released yet. Scott Schoeneweis is expected to announce his retirement soon out of grief. Very sad.

I heard about it a few days ago, but nothing I read said he was contemplating retirement...That's a very sad way to get out of baseball but I am sure Schoeneweis' mind isn't right at the moment...

Stay strong Schoeneweis! My heart goes out to his family and those who knew Gabrielle

I'm sure he just wants to be with his 14 year old daughter (who is actually who found the body), I give him props for having his priorities straight. I'm sure he had a large life insurance policy on his family, he doesn't need the paycheck.

if it's a confirmed suicide i don't think you can collect on a life insurance policy. i might be wrong about that?

Actually in most cases you can. Mine (and my families) policy covers suicide at any point after the first year. The belief is that if someone is really taking out the policy to kill themselves than they probably won't wait a year.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Where did you ever hear or see anything about speculation about a suicide?

I realize you posted "nothing has been released yet" so I'm wondering what your source is.
Looking forward to back to back championships in 2011!

This is correct. In most states suicide is covered after 1 year... In a few, though, I believe it may be 2 years. Either way, you're correct in why this is.
