J Upton for Liriano - Keeper League WHIR

Postby RyeWhiskey » Sat May 23, 2009 4:37 pm

12 team, H2H, standard stat, 9-player keeper league. My team:

C - Barajas
1B - MCab
2B - Phillips
3B - Zimmerman
SS - Jeter
OF - Braun
OF - Sizemore
OF - Hamilton
Util - Holliday/J Upton
DL - Posada
DL - Gordon

SP - J Santana, Cain, Meche, Richmond, Myers, Hill, Medlen
RP - F Cordero, Bell, Hawkins, Isringhausen
DL - Harden

So you can see that my hitting is beastly and my pitching rather porous. I've got a surplus of quality OF, and am looking to move Upton while he's hot. The original offer was Slowey for Upton, and I requested a higher-grade SP like Liriano. He sent a new trade offer of Liriano for Upton.

Should I accept? I most likely won't be keeping Upton over to next season (Braun, Sizemore, and Hamilton will do fine).

Help please! Leave a link and I'll certainly get back to you.

thanks for the help on mine. i would do the trade, i mean how much longer can liriano be this poor? and your hitting is already very strong. nows the time to do this trade cause upton is hot and liriano is cold so u can get him for a lower price.

I wouldn't do it.

As it stands now Upton would be one of your 9 keepers. Liriano will rebound, but I'd stick with the offense.

I'd do it, but I'm not in a Keeper League. I think YOU shouldn't because even though, yeah, he's due for a market correction, he's 21. And I still think he's coming down with at least 30 rockets. And I think he'll only get better. However, Liriano did just get TJ surgery, so you'd have to take that into account if you think he'll get to top form by '10. The point is, I think Upton has one hell of an upside and is going to turn into at least a No. 2 OF over the next couple years.

There's is zero chance I make that move. Too many questions about Liarano. I'd pass on that deal.

i would do the trade, but ask for a different pitcher. while upton is hot, you should be able to get someone other than slowey or liriano for him.

Yah try and grab Verlander if you can, but I agree with the consensus Uptons too good for Liriano.

I'm a Tiger fan but Upton is still worth more than Verlander in a keeper right now. I would aim higher for a Billingsley type.. Upton's upside is tremendous and in a league where you keep 9 he's worth more.

I'm letting the trade for Liriano sit while I sent one out - Upton for Billingsley.
