Holliday for Vazques?

Postby pizzaboy76 » Sat May 23, 2009 10:36 am

I'm in a 16 team 5x5 roto league. We start 4 OF and 1 U and we also start 8 Pitchers.

My current OF is - Holliday, Pence, Ethier, Span and I have Vlad who is coming off the DL soon.

I'm currently starting Andrus at my Utility spot.

I have only 4 SP's - Johan Santana, Burnett, Lilly, and Volstad.

I'm in the middle of the pack in basically all categories, but a little bit further behind in the pitching categories. My bats have started slow (Howard, Rollins, Jo. Lopez) and I'm hoping that when they come around I will be fine there.

With all that said should I trade Holliday for Vazques?

No! I would try to trade Pence or Ethier for Vazques. Holliday has more value than Vazq.

Please help me!

Yea, I started the trade discussions with Ethier for Vaz and this is what he countered with.

I'm a little torn on Holliday, will he be able to get close to Coors field numbers and is the recent hot streak a sign to come or is he just on a hot streak and the beginning of the year is what we can expect from him?

Ironically enough in my 14 team 5 keeper league, Andre Ethier was traded for Vazquez...I thought the team giving up Vazquez could've received a better quality hitter, but on the flip side, giving up Matt Holliday is way too much for Vazquez. This sounds like a typical trade sequence...you sent your first offer, he countered for a better OF...now you counter with Pence or Vlad for Vazquez and meet in the middle.

He's pretty set on Holliday so I'm going after other ideas for now. Are either of these fair value?

1. Ethier for Edwin Jackson
2. Ethier for Bret Meyers

I like Jackson more than Meyers, but I'm not sure what to think of him.

Or should I first try Vlad or Pence for Vaz?
