He's had a pretty good start to the year, and is having another good start tonight. Any Seattle fans out there watching this guy that know his deal?

Hopefully this helps you out, I;m waiting till monday when he comes off waivers to grab him if he is available after watching his start friday, really was locating well, keeping guys off balance and hitting his spots. I've seen two of his starts this season and hitters have to his point been unable to really square the bat up on him, but remember once the book gets out on this guy hitters will make adjustments, and as long as he can as well he is looking great. Loved watching him outpitch the big unit.

Vargas graduated from Apple Valley High School (CA) in 2001 and was originally selected in the 43rd round of the 2001 First Year Player Draft by the Twins, but did not sign to attend LSU. He went 1-1, 3.13 in 13 relief appearances as a freshman at LSU...named the Southern California Junior College Player of the Year in 2003 at Cypress...as a junior at LBSU, went 7-4, 4.14 on the mound and hit .354 with 14 doubles and 5 home runs as a designated hitter.

Did not pitch in 2008...underwent surgery to repair the labrum in his left hip on March 17...Spent the summer rehabing at the Mets minor league complex in Port St. Lucie, FL...Pitched for the Peoria Saguaras of the Arizona Fall League...Went 1-0 with a 2.10 ERA (6 ER, 25.2 IP) in 9 games (1 GS) in the Fall League...Held opponents to a .208 (20x96) average, including .200 (7x35) vs. left-handers
