Soto Dropped, #1 Waiver WHIR

Postby imblotto » Fri May 22, 2009 7:52 pm

Geovany Soto was just dropped in my Yahoo league and I have the #1 waiver. I'm pretty sure he won't make it through the waiver wire and catching free agents are rather thin. (Suzuki, Pudge, Y. Molina, Salty, and Flores are available)

On the other hand, my starting pitching is pretty brutal. I'm considering holding off and using it on Tommy Hanson when he inevitably gets the call.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, WHIR

Tough call, but given your situation I think I'd probably claim him.

I used the number five waiver on him a couple weeks ago, not the same I know, but it is worth it. What's the rule in your league? can't claim somebody until they hit the majors? In that case, i might wait, wieters and hanson are around the corner, but you can't lose either way. one other concideration: If soto is claimed, who'd do it, and who'd they drop ( another decent C?)

Yeah, they have to hit the majors. Hanson has yet to be added to the player pool.

Interesting, not too many takers on the Hanson idea.

I'd take Soto. You've got a pretty free upgrade there, and who knows what Hanson will do / look like if / when he gets called up... Take your chances now

Since you have to wait for minor leaguers I'd pass. If Hanson still isn't called up when they call Weiters up you can use it on him.
