The Tampa Bay Rays have placed pitcher Scott Kazmir on the disabled list with a right quadriceps strain. The tema is expected to call up David Price to take his place in the rotation when it comes up Monday.
The Rays also placed right-handed relief pitcher Troy Percival on the DL because of right shoulder tendinitis. Infielder Reid Brignac and right-handed relief pitcher Dale Thayer have been recalled from Triple-A Durham and will be active for tonight's game at Florida.
Wouldn't Price coming up at this point defeat the purpose of leaving him down there so long? I'm not completely familar with the Super 2 stuff, but it would seem to still be right before the deadline to keep guys from becoming eligible.
Kazmir and Perival to the DL yes, just speculation for Price, but ESPN speculation, not mine. Considering it's unlikely they'll call him up until they have to... consider this as high end speculation I guess...

Completely agree. As a Price owner, I want him up yesterday, but from a Rays front office perspective why the heck would they call him up Monday? We're so close to the Super 2 day, and they've waited this long, why not wait another week or two. Doesn't make sense.

The Super 2 day is different every year, so the deadline could have already passed. But as far as Price, he was not sent to Durham because of a Super 2 stipulation but more to keep a better eye on his innings pitched this year.
