A. Cabrera, Use Waiver to Claim Him?

Postby capitalh » Fri May 22, 2009 2:33 pm

Hey all,

I am #2 on waiver priority in my Yahoo 12 Team H2H league. Someone dropped Asdrubal Cabrera a couple of days ago, and he clears waivers tomorrow to be back in the free agent pool. I am debating whether it is worth it to use my waiver priority to ensure he will be on my team (I am fairly certain #1 on waiver priority doesn't need him and won't be claiming him). As you can see I currently have Furcal playing short, who has just been a headache so far this season. I would love to get some consistent production out of SS and just hope furcal can turn it around later on down the line. I will most definitely be willing to drop either Teahen or LaRoche for Cabrera (and probably the other for someone else). So do you guys think it is a good call to use up my waiver priority now, I could also gamble on no one putting a flyer out on Cabrera and grabbing him tomorrow from the FA pool? Zobrist is probably my second best option for SS from free agency.

I would hold onto the claim as you should be able to get Cabrera off the FA. He is a good guy to have, but many undervalue him as he is not a big name that gets a lot of hype, so I doubt someone will put a WW claim in.
