This is a 12 team 5x5 roto league. Hitting categories: HR, RBI, SB, AVG, Runs...Pitching cats: Wins, K, SV, ERA, WHIP.
I offered this owner Damon and Magglio for Sizemore and he countered with the below trade.
I give: Johnny Damon and Bobby Abreu I get: Grady Sizemore
Based on names this seems like a no brainer, it'd be really tough for me to pass on adding another elite player to my team (especially with my OF lacking a big name). But in terms of production, I'm not sure that it is. Damon has been consistently better than Sizemore thus far and with the way balls are flying out of new Yankee Stadium I don't think his HR production is going to slow down considerably. And Abreu has been a the main source of my steals.
I'm in first place right now and there's money involved so I don't want to sacrifice anything here. I don't think it's completely out of the question that Damon matches Sizemore's value this year and Abreu is pretty valuable to me as well. But can I afford to pass on this??
Leave a link and I WILL return the favor.

I'd do it. It's a good sell-high/buy low. It's tough to give up on Damon because he's doing so well, but from here on out, i'd easily take Sizemore. He'll heat up. Abreu has been good too, but where's his power? That scares me.

The thing that's really holding me back is the fact that Damon hits almost all of his HRs to RF. HRs flying out of New Yankee Stadium like crazy to RF clearly plays to his advantage. If he starts running again, he's likely to go 25/20 with a .300 BA.
Even if Sizemore gets back on track and goes 30/30 (which doesn't look like a sure thing), he won't have Damon beat out by a lot. I think Abreu more than makes up the difference between them.
I'm leaning against doing this now. Does anyone else have any thoughts to add? Leave a link and I will help in return.

I guess it's likely that I could replicate Abreu's production with players like Pierre and Victorino. But with Damon looking so good and with his new ballpark playing directly to his advantage I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger. Especially since Sizemore has been so bad this year.

I think either Ordonez or Ethier can adequately fill in for Damon - make the deal unless you think Sizemore's elbow is what is holding him back

Ordonez has been so bad he's on the verge of being cut by the Tigers and Either has been terrible since the Manny suspension. Neither is really usable right now.

dude, looking at things short term is not how you win fantasy baseball titles - it's a marathon not a race - take Sizemore - Ethier and/or Ordonez will come around at some point
