Soriano at 2b?

Postby jnormy » Fri May 22, 2009 11:30 am

Alfonso Soriano-OF-Cubs May. 22 - 10:46 am et
Cubs manager Lou Piniella hinted Thursday that Alfonso Soriano could begin seeing time at second base if Mike Fontenot's slump continues.
It actually makes a good amount of sense. Soriano is a former second baseman and the move, most importantly, would allow the hot-hitting Micah Hoffpauir to play left field. Fontenot is batting just .195/.292/.364 in 118 at-bats this season. "We'll explore all our other options," Piniella said. "I feel very comfortable with our outfield, but we've got to score some runs too."

Could it be true? As a Soriano and Weeks owner, this would be a spectacular development indeed! Hopefully Sweet Lou isn't just screwing with us... and Fontenot goes oh-for-his-next-20. ;-D

The question is what has Pinella been thinking for the past year or two. Doesn't he realize that a mere five starts @ 2B would have made Soriano 2B eligible in Yahoo and made tons of fantasy owners real happy? :-? ;-)

Tonite would be a good nite to start him at 2B ... ;-D
