Bring on the Homer

Postby MaudDib » Thu May 21, 2009 8:29 pm

Reds recalled RHP Homer Bailey from Triple-A Louisville.
Bailey was summoned to take the rotation spot of injured starter Edinson Volquez. Bailey, a former top prospect, will start on Saturday against the Indians. He was 3-5 with a 4.60 ERA in eight starts for Louisville.

So do you think he can become the pitcher everyone thought he was going to be or is he WW fodder?

Yeah, I'll need to see 2 solid starts before I try and grab him, I think he will end up being one of those pitchers who could have been.

His ERA looks poor because of his first two starts in which he gave up 10 ER in 8 IP. Since then he's only given up more than 2 ER twice and hasn't given up more than 4. This stretch also includes a 15 K game in 6.1 IP. In deeper mixed leagues and NL only leagues its worth grabbing him now, otherwise in 12 team mixed I'd take the wait and see approach...

Not sure about that move. Zito is in a much better situation that Homer Bailey.
