Possible Peavy to White Sox trade (5/21/09)

Postby BALCO All-Stars » Thu May 21, 2009 10:10 am

per Rotoworld:

Report: White Sox-Padres talking Peavy trade

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the White Sox and Padres are nearing agreement on a trade centered around Jake Peavy.
As Tom Krasovic of the Union-Tribune reports, "Peavy met with Padres manager Bud Black late Wednesday night to discuss a trade overture from the Sox." He has to approve any potential deal and is thought to prefer the National League. We'll keep you updated as more details stream in

http://www.rotoworld.com/content/HeadLi ... &hl=263753

I also heard this on my way into work today listening to the Score (flagship station for the Sox). They were reporting that a deal was reached in principle to send four unnamed players to the Padres for Peavy. They said the only thing left was for Peavy to ok the deal since he has a no-trade clause, but Peavy was quoted saying that he didn't know how he felt about pitching for Ozzie...stay tuned ladies and germs.

As a Cubs fan this would SUCK...there were so many rumors that Peavy was going to the Cubs in the offseason and then he was a possible trade target this summer...only to see the White Sox possibly beating us to the punch.

If you are Peavy would you take this deal? NL to the AL. Great pitcher's park to a good hitter's park. Plus Ozzie is a lunatic.

I hope Beckham is included in the trade. Give him a chance to start (even though it would be in SD)

i don't see Peavy going to the sox. he loves to hit and loves the NL. There have been rumors of milwaukee showing interest in him. This would be similar to the C.C deal that sent the brewers to playoffs last year, except for the fact that peavy would be most likely be around for more than a few months.

Actually, as a Cubs fan I'm perfectly fine with Peavy headed to the Chisox. We need to replace Aram's production and ditch Cotts for a worthwhile loogy. Although Peavy to the Chisox doesn't make much sense (core players are old - they suck - he doesn't want to go to the AL - Ozzie Guillen - leaving an anti-homer park to pitch in homer alley), I'd be happy to see him go somewhere other than Milwaukee/StL.

for a pitcher with huge personal reservations about moving to the AL, I think CWS is about the worst possible nightmare for him.

Im not saying he should accept just ANY deal, and i wouldnt encourage him to accept THIS deal, but duuuuuuuude grow a set and quit hiding from the AL. :-o

Aaron Poreda and Clayton Richard are the main prospects the ChiSox are giving. http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entr ... 6/15152673

As a Cubs fan, lololol. Who says the White Sox will contend? They're bottom five in scoring and they're middle of the pack in pitching. Sure, with Peavy they'd move to the upper 1/4 probably but no team is going to win a championship with such a weak offense. I hope Peavy does accept the trade, just to spite him for all this nonsense from the offseason.

He got strong feedback from Scott Linebrink last night about playing in Chicago and playing for Ozzie.
Come on down Mr. Peavy! ;-D
