He won't be starting but if does somehow manage to get the Cubs starting job he has nice value.

At this point, Grudplyzsdfgewadhggcgik still has the job. I have no idea how long this situation will last. It's too bad, a further dilution of 2b.

yeah it was really strange that he signed with the cubs when he knew he wouldnt have a position. i dont see him getting anymore than 300 at bats this year if everyone else stays healthy. is a shame....

He signed with the Cubs because he got a taste for winning last year with Boston. I guess he decided that he would rather be a backup on a good team than a starter on a bad one.

why not just take a pay cut to stay with the sox if that's what was important?

The sox wouldn't have resigned him anyways, given the lack of defense they where getting from there DHs playing 1B, they could not afford to have a poor range 2B. That leaves a gaping whole on the right side of the diamond.

He will have limited value if in a platoon with Grud.

If Grud loses the job (which is unlikely) then Walker would be a solid pick up.

They will both put up similar numbers overall but Gruds higher average is worth more than a few extra HR's Walker will hit.

he's also worked in the of a little this spring....alou always misses some games, so maybe that can help his cause
