cecil vs. boston?

He's been playing great and boston is weak without youkilis and ortiz being bad... should i start him tonight?

I came here to post the exact same question...I'm 47 IP over and am wondering if I should start Cecil.

you're right - with Youk out and Papi struggling, Boston isn't the same hitting machine as in the past few years. Sox have scored 5 or less in 9 straight games...His only road start was a great one, but Oakland's field is a pitcher's park...

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I think you're right - Youk is due back today - didn't realize it was Wednesday already...

damn yeh he is due back... that certainly changes things but I still don't know... im already taking a chance with verlander going against Texas

it all comes down to how risk-averse you are. correct me if i'm mistaken but i think cecil is a ground ball pitcher, so if he keeps it inside the park he stands a reasonable chance at a quality start.

i'm personally going to roll the dice with him. having ortiz in the lineup helps that decision.

Considering I'm 47 innings over and have been using all of my 8 starters regularly, I'm going to sit him tonight. My prediction is a not-so-great start...I don't think he'll get pounded, but his first start at Fenway...big series. I'm not sure he'll get a quality start this time.

Bench Cecil. He will get rocked now that Youk is back and Boston is heavily right-handed. Pedroia, Fathead, Bay, Lowell. I wouldn't start em.

Oh, he got pounded. Bay's HR is still going...and when Big Papi takes you deep, you know you're in trouble!

I had him in two leagues, and started him in both......DAMN!!!! I'm a Red Sox fan so I'm glad they did break out of their funk and got the win. I'm elated that Big Papi has finally gone deep too. But not too crazy about Cecil getting rocked!!
