I watched the game. Wood kept throwing flat fast balls belt-high over the middle of the plate. That was his problem. He didn't appear to be injured, he just didn't pitch well. His location was terrible, he was either way off (not close enough to the plate, to make the batter chase) or he was right over the heart of the plate. The game was lost on 3 pitches essentially. Two HR back-to-back to Jacobs and Teahen (on bad location fastballs) and a 3rd bad fastball that was crushed for a triple by DeJesus.
Well, the problems aren't all on Wood in Cleveland. Their entire bullpen just isn't any good. Whatever happened to Raffy Perez?? He's been awful this year and all last year as well. Betancourt hasn't been all that great either. Jensen Lewis is OK but he's more a middle reliever than a setup guy. The Tribe definitely need to do something about that bullpen of theirs, they have a good lineup but they aren't going to win many games if the bullpen can't hold their leads. That said I'm glad I don't have Wood or any of the other Tribe relievers on my teams. YIKES!!!
The point of this was to ask whether or not his velocity was way down or if there was anything to indicate an injury. People's opinions on their bullpen isn't really that helpful.
For the record. Rafael Perez was quite good last year. Go look at the numbers.
