BIG Aramis Trade, WHIR 100%

Postby Bravos of Steel » Tue May 19, 2009 6:03 pm

I've been offered Brandon Phillips and Max Scherzer for my Aramis Ramirez (DL), Johnny Damon, and Tommy Hanson. I'm so tempted to take this because of the uncertainty behind Aramis, but I can't seem to make up my mind. 12 team yahoo league, standard scoring. What should I do? Here's my roster:

C- Brian McCann
1B - Ryan Howard
2B - Chris Coghlan/Kelly Johnson
3B - Hank Blalock
SS - Rafael Furcal
OF - Adam Jones
OF - B.J. Upton
OF - Johnny Damon
Util. - Carlos Pena
SP - Josh Beckett
SP - Justin Verlander
SP - Roy Oswalt
RP - Mike Gonzalez
RP - Troy Percival
P - Juan Cruz
P - David Aardsma
Bench - Kelly Johnson
Bench - Juan Pierre
Bench - James Loney
Bench - Dexter Fowler
DL - Aramis Ramirez
DL - Jorge Posada
Bench (P) - Paul Maholm
Bench (P) - Chris Volstad
Bench (P) - Tommy Hanson

Leave a link guys, I'll definitely help you back if you give reasonable advice. thanks!

My gut says to hold off, because Damon -- even if he stops homering at this clip -- should be good with the contract year. When Hanson comes up, he could be something. I think Aramis will come back ok -- a dislocated shoulder is not fun, but it's different from a wrist injury that would certainly skew his game for the season and beyond. Philips has been OK and Scherzer has flashes, but you give up a lot more talent here I think.

thanks for helping me.
my thought here is would you ever consider this if aramis wasn't on the DL? no way you would do it, so i wouldn't do it now either. yes, you need a 2B, but you're giving up too much here i think. i have aramis, and i've tried trading him, but no takers in my league. if someone will trade you a good 2B, then i'd consider a 1 for 1 deal.

so are you a braves fan? if so, i am too. go zobrist over frenchy??

My thoughts exactly. Hold off, you're really giving off too much for Phillips & Scherzer. Aram won't be back for a little while, but Damon has been raking it...and once ARam comes back, You'll be happy you didn't deal him.
