Probably not. Unless Penny or Wake go down with an injury- which could easily happen he probably won't see much time this year outside of spot starts. Smoltz is coming back soon so right there you have 6 starters (Smoltz could go to the pen, but that's been their bright spot while the rotation has been shaky. There's a few other scenarios that could play in- Smoltz struggles and Penny is traded (I think the latter is very likely), then maybe.

I'm hoping that Clay gets an opportunity sometime this year, he and Micheal Bowden are just dominating right now in Pawtucket. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them does get dealt at some point for a bat, in case Big Papi's struggles continue for much more. I do hope he gets called up though sometime, he's a wasted talent at AAA ball right now IMO. Then again, I figured David Price and Matt Wieters would've been called up by now too so what do I know?? LOL

I don't think you are in the minority on Price and Wieters. I thought they'd be up by now or right about now as well.

I'm still confident that Clay will get called up sometime soon, I'd be very surprised if he isn't on the 25-man roster by the All-Star break. I've heard the Sox are considering shopping Brad Penny, so if that's the case one of two things will happen. 1.) they get a deal they like for Penny and John Smoltz will be activated. Or 2.) they call up Clay because Smoltz isn't quite ready yet. I think he'll be up sometime soon though.

He lost the perfect game to the first batter in the 9th. Surprised he kept his pitch count so low through 8. But we know he is great but there is no room for him in the Sox rotation.

Well, I've heard that Brad Penny can't be dealt before June 15th without his permission. If he does get dealt soon and there are teams looking for pitching help (Mets and Phillies among others) then I'm wondering if the Red Sox will call up Buchholz or activate Smoltz off the DL?? I think that's what they are waiting for is for Smoltz to come off the DL before they make any decisions regarding Penny. I know Clay won't be going anywhere though. What do you guys think??
