Gonzalez/Wilson for Haren

Postby TrippySG » Mon May 18, 2009 9:44 am

Is this a good trade? I want to offer M Gonzalez and B Wilson for D Haren, mainly to give up S and go for W, K, ERA, WHIP categories. I am thinking this is the only way to get a top tier SP, since this guy only has a Hawkins pretty much in the closer dept. I could try a 1 for 1 to get Cueto,Garza, Wainwright or E Santana too, although Im not sure he would go for it. Heres my Roster

H2H
12 Team
Mixed League

C: Brian McCann
1B: Adrian Gonzalez
2B: Chase Utley
SS: Troy Tulowiski
3B: Miguel Cabrera (still qualifies for 3B in my league)
OF: Jason Bay
OF: Jason Werth
OF: Micheal Bourne
UTIL: Nick Johnson
BN: Ryan Ludwick
BN: Stephen Drew

SP: Chad Billingsly
SP: Francisco Liriano
SP: Rich Harden
SP: Brett Cecil
SP: Tommy Hanson
SP: David Price
RP: Brian Wilson
RP: Mike Gonzalez
RP: Brad Ziegler
RP: Matt Capps
DL: Kelvim Escobar

I don't think it's enough. Wilson is solid enough, but Gonzalez is basically splitting duties with Soriano.

Can you help with this one? viewtopic.php?t=385676

Thanks for help w/mine.

If you could pull this off, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but IMO it's just not enough. That said, Haren is maybe a pitcher to avoid right now -- his 1st/2nd half splits are alarming, and you may be getting the worst of him going forward.

Don't think it is enough as well but saves are only one cat. so I would at least try it. Thanks for the help on mine.

Thanks for the replies. When I discussed this trade with the other owner, he was really about to bite, so I think he might go for it anyways, even if most wouldnt, because he is desparate for saves. I just picked up Aardsma, at the expense of Ziegler, so if I went through Id still have him and Capps. The question I have is, will Haren really have that bad of a 2nd half? I think his numbers will get better because AZ offense is not as horrid as it has been playing, so he should at least get some more wins when they decide to start the season over there, but Id like some feedback on that.

never hurts to try...but really doubt ur offering enough. Haren is as solid as they come...and the CL u are offering may be 2 of the worst (no offense) out there...teams get no wins & 1 splits time.

simply put, if I own Haren...no chance I make the deal...thats the black/white of it, IMO

-thx for help on mine

I agree with this guy.

But you said the other owner was about to bite. If that's the case then get it done while you still can. You'd be putting yourself in a bit of a hole with your RP but it wouldn't be a dire situation and would be worth it, IMO.

Yeah if you can get the other owner to go for it you should take that trade. Harens not going to get you that many wins though, because Arizona seems to not give him any runs, losing games when he only gives up one or two ER
