Trade Berkman + a P for Lincecum?

Postby mbea02 » Sun May 17, 2009 11:07 pm

Just picked up Berkman yesterday via trade, and now considering moving him. Lincecum's owner is hurting on offense and is open to a deal.

I offered Berkman for Lincecum, and he countered that he wants Berkman + a closer or a starting pitcher for Lincecum.

Would you package Berkman + a pitcher for Lincecum, and if so, which pitcher would you include in the deal?

Realistically, I think you can only offer Berkman/Peavy to really get it done. Your closers and other starters are shaky. You could try waiting for Bedard to come back and have a nice start or Ervin to have his first good one if you want to lowball first.

Grounded Polo may be right that only Peavy would seal the deal, but then you have to consider whether that would still be worth the deal. If it is for you, that's fine; however, as Grounded Polo mentioned, don't open with that as the leading offer. Neither Santana nor Lackey did particularly well in their returns, for what it's worth; Santana gave up three runs over five innings, and Lackey only threw two pitches before being ejected from the game.

I'd rather have Berkman and Peavy and stay put.

Agreed that Peavy and Berkman is way too much for Lincecum.

I think I can get him cheaper. Would you give us Ervin and Berkman for Lincecum? Or Berkman and Bedard?
