Drop Mike Cameron for Michael Bourn? WHIR

Postby Leiter Fan » Sat May 16, 2009 5:55 pm

I play in a 6x6, H 2 H daily transaction keeper league that counts OPS and holds, and has individualized OF positions. I was wondering if I should drop Mike Cameron for Michael Bourn at CF, to boost my SB numbers. My big worry is that this will hurt my power numbers too much. Any thoughts?

As always, I'll answer any of yours in return - just post a link.

Here is my current roster:

C: Geovany Soto (C)
1B: Albert Pujols (1B)
2B: Aaron Hill (2B), Rickie Weeks (2B)
3B: Ryan Zimmerman (3B)
SS: J.J. Hardy (SS)
LF: Carlos Lee (LF)
CF: Ichiro Suzuki (CF, RF)
Mike Cameron (CF)
RF: Bobby Abreu (RF)
Util: Felipe Lopez (2B, 3B, SS, LF)

SP: Tim Lincecum, Francisco Liriano, Chad Billingsley, Erik Bedard, Max Scherzer, Jordan Zimmerman, Tommy Hanson
RP: Mariano Rivera, Matt Capps, Fernando Rodney, Tony Pena
DL: John Smoltz, Chris Carpenter

Thanks, guys!

Bourn does seem to have turned a corner so far this season but I do think you need Cameron's power more...he is a fairly consistent but quiet 20-20.

That's a tough call - clearly Cameron is way better for power - while Bourn would provide you the SBs you mentioned needing.

I think I'd go with Bourn - but I might be biased, as I've been burned by Cameron injuries in seasons past...

Help on mine?

I think it depends on whether you believe in Bourn's average. I'm one of the people who just doesnt think he'll maintain it. We all know that Cameron is not a .300 hitter, but the other things he does for a team are highly undervalued in a lot of leagues.

Cameron was fantastic last year. Without his suspension and a full season of AB's meaning 150 games and around 550 or so ABs, Cameron's line projected to, 88 runs, 31 hrs, 88 rbis, 21 sb. I dont know about you, but I want that on my team. I just think Bourn is a one category guy, he's not going to put your team over the top in SB, so I dont think its worth giving up the overall production Cameron provides. Couple that with the fact that you can certainly absorb the batting average hit Cameron will give you, and I just couldnt bring myself to make this move.
