The guy has put together a few nice starts now with double-digit K's in the last 2. Run support hasn't been there so the W-L record sucks, but other numbers starting to look good. I couldn't get myself to stream him yesterday and am kicking myself, but ran home and grabbed him. I don't know much background on the guy, any thoughts?

I'm bumping this thread, De La Rosa is an interesting case. I don't know a ton about his history, but I read that he has really improved over the past year (much better K/BB rate). His last two starts have been great and he's done rather well over the course of the entire season. My one question about him is if his inconsistencies will get the better of him or not.

I love his strikeout rate. However, his past five starts- Pit, Fla, SD, SD, Ari.

Post-ASB last year: 3.08 ERA in 73 IP.
ERA in August 2008: 2.22 ERA
ERA in September 2008: 2.67 ERA
I'm keeping my eye on him.

Had to pick him up in my 16 team league, and glad I did. I feel like he flys under the radar, even here in Denver. The fact that he plays in the NL west is just a cherry.
I gruntle the disgruntled.

Kind of upset I didnt pick this guy up in time.
Considering how shallow the waiver wire is in my league I would have loved to take a flier on him. Hes a very good K pitcher and with K's and K/9 in my league he would have been very useful. I do however think he will have his share of ups and downs this year.

Yeah but...a lot of pitchers live like that.

Glad this got some replies. I agree the NL West may make him a bit better, but it's not like cheating targeting pitchers from there. I just hope he can keep it up- it'll be a nice little pickup.
