Cahill is up. He isn't getting sent back down. Oakland doesn't toy with their prospects. Once they win the job, they keep it.

theres slim pickings in the free agency most ppl with era's of 4.5 and 1-1 ratio K to BB

im not sure i'm buying all of the cahill defenders in this thread. a lot of people here are singing his praises but i'm not sure i'm buying it (comparing him to brandon webb is a bit premature. also, keep in mind i own him in my dynasty league). don't get me wrong, he was beginning to look impressive before his outing against detroit where he gave up 7 ER in 2.1 innings while striking out 0. so far he has pitched 41.1 innings while striking out a mere 14 batters, while walking 22, and giving up 6 HR. boasting a 5.01 season ERA with a 1.65 WHIP and a .289 BAA. each and everyone of those numbers are alarming and the only reason he seems to have a solid value is because his job is not in jeopardy because oakland has no other options. like i said, i own him so i hope i am wrong in my assessments but so far he has not shown to be MLB ready yet, however he has some shown flashes. with that being said, it is very easy to see why it was justifiable for the above poster to drop him for kris medlen who has been lights out at AAA.

Depends on your league. I think Cahill is a much better prospect overall and thus better long term, but Medlen is a try and catch lightning in a bottle type.

I would take Cahill over Medlen. I'm in dyansty format so it is different in a one-and-done league.

will cahill develop into a reliable number 3-4 starter? and have some sort of consistency and cut down on the walks? He kills my WHIP and by the time he pitches Ive already lost the pitching categories(era and whip) so i let him pitch
