Jose Reyes out of New York Mets lineup with stiff right calf
SAN FRANCISCO -- Shortstop Jose Reyes is out of the Mets' starting lineup for Thursday's series opener against the Giants with a stiff right calf.
With J.J. Putz and Carlos Delgado unavailable, that essentially leaves the Mets with a 22-man roster, although manager Jerry Manuel said Reyes would be available off the bench if absolutely needed.
Here is the full Mets lineup for the 10:15 p.m. game at AT&T Park:

Man this is the last news I want to hear, my week so far Ludwick, Adam Jones, Reyes and Votto. Rotoworld has posted that "Reyes is getting then night off Thursday". I don't think it is too serious.

I agree, it doesn't sound too serious. But Reyes did undergo an MRI, so we'll have to hold our breath until the results are released.
One of the main reasons I drafted Reyes was his durability (I'm in a points league where players that the pile up plate appearances are extremely valuable). Last season, a mid-April MRI on Reyes' hamstring revealed a strain. He only missed 2 games (and the Mets had a rest day). When Reyes returned to the lineup, he slugged 6 extra-base hits in his first 6 games back.
The perception that his calf strain is very minor and Reyes' past ability to bounce back quickly are good signs he should be back in the Mets lineup very soon.
Meanwhile, the shorthanded Mets also played without Jose Reyes Thursday night because of right calf pain, which prompted an MRI. Jerry Manuel insisted Reyes sitting wasn't a smoke screen to bench the shortstop for sloppy baserunning in Wednesday's home-stand finale.
