It might seem hard to believe that Smoak could be on this list already after just 45 professional games (not including time at the Arizona Fall League), but Smoak's upside is huge. Hank Blalock is in the last year of his contract, and Smoak soon could be pushing Chris Davis to DH to start next season. Smoak's advanced feel for hitting could make him an impact player in 2010, especially given the relative lack of depth in the corner infield pool this year compared to recent seasons.

Congrats, I got that email too....
That said, I like Smoak more then the other "elite" guys at his position (Anderson, Hosmer, Alonso). Walking more then he strikes out, good IsoP.
Would probably put him as the 4th best 1B under 25 right now, behind Fielder, Davis and Butler, but just barely behind the last two.
I think Smoak is going to be an incredible hitter and gets a boost by being a Texas hitter. Hopefully he'll have to try in AA, obviously too advanced for A ball.
i am very excited about this kids potential and can't wait until he is in the yahoo database so i can add him to my dynasty team. i agree with the above poster...i can definately see this kid being a sept callup, and at the very latest we'll see him next ST since this is hank blalock's walk year and he almost surely won't be resigned with this kid waiting in the wings and chris davis most likely moving to DH or vice versa.

I DO love the potential of seeing him in Arlington this summer once Blalock is traded...
It might be a problem, but I haven't read anything about that as an issue. Besides his college stats don't look that off.
