Standard 5x5 league.

Team 1 is stacked at SS and 2B, but weak in RP and OF. That is why the trading of Rivera and Jones makes no sense. Holds are irrelevant, so the Marmol acquisition is also suspect. Team 1 is also weak at SP, so Peavy does makes sense.

Team 2 is stacked at SP with Lincecum, Halladay, and Peavy.

This is pretty suspect. Any more info? I don't take a veto lightly so I would need to see full rosters and more info on the current standings.

Also, any reason to believe collusion is happening?

I think it's totally unfair. IDK about collusion, but you'd have to be and idiot on Team 1 to do that. He is clearly giving up the 2 best players in Pedroia and Reyes. With Jones playing out of this world and Peavy mediocre, you could say it's the 3 best. I'd call it vetoable.

sorry...you cant worry about "Fair" or a "bad owner making a bad deal" (unless it's like studs for WW trash)...the trade isnt horrible and it doesnt sound like collusion is going on, so i'd let it go

i have this problem in one of my leagues....and it has made me rethink my only veto on collusion stand point

my cousin plays in our friends league(not serious) just for teh hell of it. he doesnt really know that much or research that much...or check his team too much. he basically does just enough to get by

when it comes to trading...he will accept almost anything with the response of "what the hell...why not...i really dont care anyways"

i actually got this response from him once. since then its become basically an automatic veto from the league and would be from me if commish veto only anytime he accepts a trade. i wish people would stop offering him stuff so we could stop vetoing...but id hate to tell everyone to do that...as its friendly

so in these type cases...i have been swayed to thinking vetoing is the way to go...even though no collusion exists

and yes, that trade is freaking horrible

Thanks for the responses guys. I did not enjoy doing it, but I vetoed it. I think it was in the best interest of the competitive balance of the league.

Btw, we have an official veto rule - the Commish has sole authority and the standard is "substantially unbalanced".
