A-Gon for Kemp

Postby chargersfan36 » Wed May 13, 2009 8:24 pm

At the beginning of the season I would have taken this in an instant. When I saw the offer I had a similar reaction so I took the deal, but I want to make sure others share my confidence. 12-team 5x5 roto league.

I give: A. Gonzalez, Fowler

I get: Kemp, LaPorta

C - B. Molina
C - Napoli
1B - A. Gonzalez
2B - K. Johnson
3B - Bonifacio
SS - Bartlett
CI - Fontenot
MI - Uggla
OF - Hamilton
OF - Beltran
OF - Granderson
OF - Span
OF - Andruw Jones
Util - D. Ortiz
BN - Fowler
DL - A. Ramirez
DL - Glaus
P - Kazmir
P - Scherzer
P - C. Young
P - Harden
P - U. Jimenez
P - J. Cruz
P - Fuentes
P - Marmol
P - Bailey
BN - P. Hughes
BN - Soria
DL - K. Escobar

My outfield will be stacked and my infield will be crap. Ortiz isn't 1B eligible (yet?) so LaPorta will be starting at first. I'm a Padre fan and I remember Gonzo having a strong first half last year but slowing down after the all-star break. I think Kemp could potentially match his HR numbers. What do you think?

ya i like it. is this a keeper league? Cause fowler is amazing but probably wont be this year. Laporta will put up better numbers than fowler THIS year, and kemp in the OF is more valuable that A gonz for me. As long as you can fill the hole at first i like it, but im not sure if Laporta has an everyday job so u might want to check on that to make sure you have a 1B, but i do like this deal ;-D

if ya can:

Well it's basically Adrian for Kemp. Personally I'd stick with Gonzo. He's money against righties away from SD.
Dominate is a verb. Dominant is an adjective.

If its a keeper league I would do it. 1B can be replaced fairly easily and Kemp can make up for a lot of the speed lost by Fowler. Ohh.. and LaPorta >> Fowler.

If its a one-year league I would consider if you can find a suitable 1B replacement for Gonzo. Kemp will not come close to Gonzo's HR numbers this season but Kemp brings the extra speed and just for that reason, despite the fact he'll finish with fewer runs, RBIs and HR, he's up quite a few notches in my eyes.

Gonzo is more valuable than Kemp in your case. Stay put.
