As my team sits now, I'm deep at OF, so I can stomach Manny's suspension. When he returns I can flip one of my outfielders for an upgrade at SP. Thoughts?
My Team:
C Russell Martin (LAD - C,3B) 1B Miguel Cabrera (Det - 1B,3B) 2B Chase Utley (Phi - 2B) 3B Aubrey Huff (Bal - 1B,3B) SS Christian Guzman (Was - SS) OF Carl Crawford (TB - OF) OF Matt Holliday (Oak - OF) OF Corey Hart (Mil - OF) Util Orlando Hudson (LAD - 2B) BN Kosuke Fukudome (ChC - OF) BN Nelson Cruz (Tex - OF) BN Kevin Youkilis (Bos - 1B,3B)
SP Derek Lowe (Atl - SP) RP Kerry Wood (Cle - RP) RP Ryan Franklin (Stl - RP) P Brad Lidge (Phi - RP) P Heath Bell (SD - RP) BN Frank Francisco (Tex - RP) BN Javier Vázquez (Atl - SP) BN Jon Lester (Bos - SP) BN Erik Bedard (Sea - SP) BN James Shields (TB - SP) BN Scott Richmond (Tor - SP) DL Jose Valverde (Hou - RP)
I'd do this trade. In a H2H league, having Manny in the second half is a huge advantage for the playoffs, assuming you can stay competitive enough to make them.
I think that acquiring Howard in the deal will keep my power numbers about the same as what Cabrera would produce. My average will be lower and more Ks, but I'm willing to sacrifice those.
C Montero 1B Glaus 2B F. Lopez 3B A-Rod SS Reyes OF Hamilton OF Holliday OF Quentin Util Bruce BN G. Jones BN Aybar BN Morgan BN Ibanez
SP Felix, Johnson, Lincecum, Johan, Sanchez, Wandy, Nolasco, Volquez, Beckett RP Soria, K-Rod
I do fear the K category, but I think it's worth a risk. Let's just hope Manny is able to return to the Dodgers with open arms after the supsension. That is my only worry, but I think the deal.
I wouldn't be too afraid of the K category considering Miggy also strikes out a lot too (at least historically, as it's not bad at the moment). The value added over the replacement player during that home stretch makes up for it. Also, the AVG deficiency will be addressed when Manny returns - which is also when it really counts.
