Mauer only cost me $9 in my ESPN Auction Keeper league, he was undervalued due to his injury, and I almost traded him, but ended trading Weiters ($15 auction value) instead for Adam Jones.
everyone who owns him should try to sell him high. people are asking 2nd rounders for mauer right now. of course not many here would give up a 2nd rounder for him but you never know.
I think I will hold onto Mauer in my keeper league since he was bought low and will only cost $14 towards my $260 cap, plus I have always been a Mauer fan, I have Kurt Suzuki in my No.2 catcher slot and JP Arencibia in my minors
has anyone looked at Mauer's fangraphs page? his numbers are unreal, unreal as in he will NOT continue to hit the way he has been. i would suggest selling high and getting his value right now before he comes crashing back down. im not saying hes going to suck, hes still going to be good.. but more so to his normal levels. look at these numbers.. 16.7 LD% .424 BABIP 40.7 HR/FB those numbers tell me theres no way he continues the way he has, especially the last 2 numbers. i currently have McCann at C, and i wouldnt trade him for Mauer.
Sorry but everyone knows Mauer is not going to keep doing what he is doing, its not really normal for anyone.. But he is an unreal talent and he will put up sick numbers from the catchers position..He is about to enter his prime and scouts always thought he would hit for power eventually..I would rather have Mauer than McCann..Those percentages will definitely level out but its funny that people are saying to sell high..Its not like the guy came out of nowhere..
the problem with selling him high is that even "back down to earth Mauer" is still a top 3-4 catcher...in a 10 or 12 team 1 catcher league, you can probably find an adequate replacement, but in deeper or 2 catcher leagues, aint a whole lot on the wire, so i better be getting an enormous return to trade him, and i'll doubt you find too many owners willing to pay that, but if you can, more power to you
