No, Hunter is probably not going to keep this up. In fact he's already sliding a bit, you'd be selling low and buying high. Plus your team - and your OF - looks solid as it is imo.
You're again buying high and selling low, but this is not nearly as bad as hunter. Zimmerman has had this potential all along and might just be coming into his own here. Marmol seems like an odd throw in, but you'll need a little bit on top of liriano to make this happen at this point.
Do realize that liriano didnt reach peak form until later on in the year in his last good year, '06. I realize it's a small sample size but he might be a slow starter.
Your hitting seems better than solid, so I'm not sure I see the need for this move, though I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to the idea of trading Liriano. It seems like adding another closer might be a more desirable outcome, assuming that you're playing to win this year. Not Liriano straight up for a closer necessarily, but maybe some kind of package...
I have Hunter and I can't see trading him away for Liriano. I think getting Hunter for Liriano would be a gift. But I might not know what I'm talking about.
And it looks to me like Hunter is better than Zimmerman too for this year. They're about the same in R, HR, RBI and AVE but Hunter gives you SBs and Zimmerman doesn't. They're both on fire.
If you wanted to keep though, Zimmerman has a big edge in age at 24 yo versus Hunter at 33. Is that why Hunter is not being looked at so favorably in this discussion?
I agree with the last guy. I would rather have Hunter. He consistnetly puts up numbers . He isn't glamorus. Every year he has 20 plus hrs and 85-90 rbi and steals 15-20 bases. Give me those numbers over what could happen but hasn't with liriano.
