Really depends on how many extra roster spots you have. In my league where I have 5 extra roster spots, I'd probably pick him up if he was available... but then thats probably why he isn't available. I was in a league a few years ago where there was only 2 backups... there just wasn't room in my roster to hold him in those leagues. It also depends on how deep your league is. In some of the deeper leagues, he may actually be the best available... at least as far as possible upside goes. But there must be better available in a 10 team league.

How sad is it that I saw the thread saying Ortiz homered and my first thought was... "another pitcher being used to pinch hit (like Zambrano a while back), what a bizarre year this has been."

I was there for the HR...however I was in the beer line and saw it on TV. Guess I need to get a loan and go to every Red Sox game.

Why would you need to do that? You think Ortiz is gonna start homering every game? Don't count on it
