holliday's value?

Postby pepperoncino » Tue May 12, 2009 11:21 pm

is he worth a pitcher like liriano or gallardo? i lost manny so i'm looking for another big bat in the outfield. i have the pitching depth to deal a top starter and i've been offered him for one of my top pitchers - either halladay, billingsley, liriano (i also have garza, weaver, slowey).

should i deal one of my aces for holliday?

He's starting to heat up, and while i do think he will pick up his average i worry his power numbers are not going to be what they were in colorado. He's not going to replace manny, and imho he's not worth a halladay or billingsley. liriano i'd probably pull the trigger on tho.

Holliday's move to Oakland seems to have hurt him significantly - absolutely no way I would trade Halladay or Billingsley (especially Halladay) for him and I don't know that I would trade Liriano either. If you are going to trade any of the three I would go with Liriano but you're probably better off trying to target a different outfielder.

Listing your team and his team would help since you may be able to work a bigger trade that would include Holliday or a different OF

Pitchers i would try to target would include:
Cole Hamels(Phi - SP)
Francisco Liriano(Min - SP)
Josh Beckett(Bos - SP)
John Lackey(LAA - SP) DL (coming off DL soon, window of opp is shrinking)
Ervin Santana(LAA - SP) DL (coming off DL soon, window of opp is shrinking)

Holliday has had a rough start and oakland will hurt his numbers compared to his heyday in Colorado. But he will adjust and rebound and most likely will be dealt at the trading dead line. Lets just hope its a hitter friendly park!

Of those pitchers, I'd only take Hamels for Holliday...

I like that people on these forums only draft batters in the first 10 rounds and then guys like Holliday are not even worth pitchers taken in the 8th/9th round???
