Finally got the deal done..how did I do...100%WHIR

Postby philaphan » Tue May 12, 2009 2:30 pm

Alright....I have been going back and forth with this other onwer since last Monday. We finally accepted a deal pending a 2 day waiting period.
Here is the deal:

MY: Jeter/Ortiz/Kazmir
for
His: Rollins/Ordonez/Papelbon

Yes, Rollins is struggling big time but I fell that he is going to bounce back and I felt it was a perfect time to buy low. Jeter for Rollins trade in March would have been joke. Ortiz seems like he is done and I feel Ordonez has the better chance of bouncing back. Kazmir is great for Ks but his WHIP and ERA frustrates me. In my league you can start 3 closers, 2 as RP and 1 as SP/RP. So my closers are Soria (DL), Downs and now Papelbon.

How does everyone think I did? If you think I lost on the deal please tell me I want to know! 100% WHIR...just leave a link!

Here is my old roster without the trade:
10 Team Head2Head 5X5
C:Suzuki
1b:Berkman
2b:Phillips
3b:Atkins
SS:Jeter
OF:Braun, Crawford, Ibanez
Util:Ortiz
BN: Posada, Swisher, Lind
SP:Peavy, Grienke
RP: Soria, Downs
SP/RP: Kazmir, Danks, C. Young
BN: E. Jackson, Scherzer, B. J. Ryan
DL: E. Santana

Good trade for you. Rollins and Paps help you, without giving up too much.

good luck

Great trade for you. I agree with your assessment totally, in addition I think Kazmir is an injury waiting to happen. Papelbon is the best closer in the game right now and once Soria comes back you will be golden there. Rollins will bounce back and you'll get all that production. Ortiz and Ordonez may both be done but no real impact on this trade.

I think your trade could go either way man.....im extremlyyy fed up with rollins who i just got rid of so based on that I never ever want rollins again hes over the hill. The upside is you are in dire need of paps with downs questionable in the closing spot once bj is back, and soria on the DL. Magglio is on a high octane offense so i dig him. Ortiz i have as well but im hoping he comes around based on the fact that he was batting like 190 at this point last year. Kazmir is great but i think the deal comes down to who comes around first which i believe is going to be papi so I would hafta say i dont like it. sorry man... but really only cuz i think rollins has too much downside right now. I just posted my rollins trade a lil while ago if u could respond id be much appreciated

You came out looking good after that one. If Rollins does struggle his value is still equal to Jeter. Ill take papel over kazmir any day.
Rollins >= Jeter, Maggs = Ortiz, Papelbon > Kazmir

Great trade, Ortiz has seemingly vanished off the face of the earth. You got great value for him considering that.

I think it's pretty good, especially with Soria out. Jeter's not worth much anymore, and Ortiz is still not hitting. The Kazmir part may come back to bite you if he gets it together, but Rollins should do better and make up for it.

my only thing is ortiz has had trouble finding his stride in the past during april and may but comes around always. hes in an extremely high octane offense whos hitting in all categories the last 6 years does not lie. Rollins is not generally streaky and for him to produce as poorly as he is scares me to the point of getting rid of him first chance i had. like i said before if im wrong then i dig the trade for you, but thats just how im feelin right now so hope that helps. and thanks for the help on my trade.

Yeah, with the way Ortiz is hitting, it may help him in the long run. He slumps, Bay, Youk, and Pedroia rake. They start to challenge Papi and leave meat over the plate, and he eats it alive.
