My Team SUCKS

Postby yoshi99 » Mon May 11, 2009 10:25 am

waddup i'm in a Yahoo 12 team roto keeper league, 6x6 categories
I approached this draft with hitting on mind, and got plenty of it, but my pitching effin' sucks, and I only have 1 reliable closer (Matt Capps)
1B- Ryan Howard/ Joey Votto
2B- Dan Uggla
3B- Mike Lowell/ Adrian Beltre
SS- Stephen Drew/ Jason Bartlett
C- Ramon Hernandez
OF- BJ Upton (patience), Matt Kemp, Ichiro
UTIL- Nelson Cruz, Shin Soo Choo

SP- Yovanni Gallardo, Adam Wainwright, Erik Bedard, Justin Verlander, Ervin Santana, Wandy Rodriguez and Brett Cecil
RP- Matt Capps, Juan Cruz, Joe Beimel/Joel Hanrahan, Andrew Bailey

I am exhibiting patience with this squad but I'm currently in 11th place and finding it extremely hard to work out trades with anyone in my damn league. It also hurts ALOT that I've missed out on Verlander's last three excellent starts, I was burned by him badly last year and am still having trouble trusting the kid.

Hey man, your team def does not suck and your pitching is fine. Wainwright is having a rough start but I think he will come around. Look at Gallardo-Bedard-Verlander, not to mention Wandy is having a terrific season so far and even Cecil is a nice SP. When Santana comes back your staff will be even more greatly improved. The issue you should look to address is the lack of a 2nd closer. One idea is dealing Votto for a hitter+a lower tier closer. Ryan Howard at 1st and Nelson Cruz at util makes Votto expendable. Also, you could deal Nelson Cruz for a hitter+lower tier closer as well, (and use Votto at util.) Good luck!

Help with mine?

I agree, your team does not suck. I also think you can get a top line closer by moving Cruz and Bedard or Cruz and Verlander(who looks great now but could slide back) and that would make your team really tough. I think I'd hold onto Votto.

Echoing the others, I think you'll be fine. I would try and trade a 1b for a closer, someone struggling like Wood or not considered as good as he is like B. Wilson.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

I have just picked up Juan Cruz, now giving me 2 closers for the time being, should i still try and move some excess offense for closers? Also, the one problem I have with trading a valuable keeper, like Votto, for a closer is that I don't plan on keeping any pitching going into next season. In this league we keep 5 players, and I think i'm going to just stick with offense, I find pitching pretty easy to draft in keeper leagues, of course that means no johan or lincecum
