Odalis Perez anyone?!

Postby The Jury » Sun Mar 14, 2004 12:50 pm

I drafted him as an end-of-the-rotation guy to fill out my staff, which is:

Prior
Schmidt
Mussina
Morris
Brown
Pineiro
Brett Myers
Odalis Perez

Should I expect something like 15 wins, 150 whiffs, an ERA around 3.50 and a WHIP around 1.20 or am I outrageous?!

I had him last year until I finally gave up and dumped him. He just never got going. I steered clear this year, even though he had an ankle thing going on that supposed to be all better now.

He's kind of a risk to have in the lineup as he seemed to get shelled pretty regularly. He had a couple of good outings but that's about all I can say for him.

Hes' done it before so maybe. But that's perhaps a little optimistic. He's had an ERA under 4 only once, but I think 3.75 is doable. 150 K's sounds about right. Dodger stadium good, offense terrible. Going to be hard to pick up 15 W's I think.

Any new rumors of the D's trading for some hitting? What are the chances he ends up somewhere else?

You have a nice staff. Why ruin it by getting Mr. Implode himself? ;-)

Odalis is a great value at that point. He has top-notch stuff. Last year he was bothered by injuries. He should definitely bounce back, maybe not all the way to 2002 numbers but definitely to solid starter material.

Nice nice, I'm hoping for the best.

PS. My relievers are Benitez, Julio, and Cordero. I'm thinking I can get enough saves out of those guys to compete in H2H format and my starters will eat enough innings to make up for booboos that my closers give up. Those guys are pretty decent though I think.

My hitters could use some work but I think with the guys that will pop up this season through waivers I should be okay. I've got:

C Ivan Rod
1B Thome
2B Soriano
3B Aramis
SS Orlando Cabrera (I actually like him for the runs, rbi, steals)
OF Brian Giles
OF Juan Gonzo
OF Bernie Williams (if healthy)
Util Frank Thomas
Bench: Klesko, Everett, Jenkins, Burrell

Heh I also added Burnett today, I'll stash him away on DL :-D

8-team league with competitive buddies B-)

That's a tremendous staff without Odalis. If I were you I'd hope he starts hot so you can trade him to somebody for a bat, that you simply MUST need considering the draft picks you would have had to use to get that pitching. Or if you're comfortable with him after a good start, you could easily afford to trade one of your other arms for a top bat. You could afford to lose Brown or Schmidt if they still have a mid 2's ERA at the end of April. That should net you a great hitter and you'll rid yourselves of the injury concerns they bring to the table.
