Like somebody already said, Tejada will put up similar, if not better stats, and you can get him a round later than Nomar. That's a big deal. You can grab a really good first rounder at a not-so-shallow position, and then go for Tejada in the second round. It would be tough if they were both available, but Nomar usually goes a bunch of picks before Miggy based on his name alone.
If Nomar were ever to leave Boston, which he seemed to be in the off-season, his numbers would plummet. First of all, he'd be out of Boston's lineup. Second of all, have a look at this:
Home: 329 AB's, .359, 73 R, 18 HR, 68 RBI
Road: 329 AB's, .243, 47 R, 10 HR, 37 RBI
That's terrible. The Nomar trade rumours have died down, but if he were ever dealt it would kill his value.
Tejada hit 50 points higher on the road than he did at home. Getting out of Oakland is going to help him. That lineup is also a LOT better than Oakland's. I'd take Miggy or Renteria before I got Nomar. And they both usually come a round or two cheaper.
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."
