I say no. Johnson is too good. See if you can do Beltran + Slowey or Oswalt.

Try Beltran + Cain or Wandy. Both are solid but should slow down a little. JJ looks legit.

Yeah I would try my best to try and hang on to Johnson. I would first try Wandy then if he doesnt like it try Cain, but try your options before just giving JJ away.

what would be the better option? to downgrade the hitter from Beltran to Holliday

or

downgrade the pitcher to someone in the Slowey/Wandy mold....

he rejected offers of Holliday/Cain, Holliday/Wandy, and Beltran/Slowey

he seems pretty stuck on Beltran/Johnson, but I am not sure - what should my next move be? I hate to lose Beltran's 30-30 ability and would rather trade Holliday instead, but would hate to give up a chance to get M-Cab

I'd make this deal as 3b looks like a big hole for you. Your pitching depth is fine enough to give up some value in JJ.

I like the idea of getting M-Cab and the original deal seems fair. I'd be tempted to squeeze more value from JJ (a slight upgrade from Hawpe). Otherwise, I'd try Holliday/JJ for M-Cab/Hawpe and see what he says there.
