Aramis on the DL, what to do? WHIR!!

Postby mayfijr » Sun May 10, 2009 11:05 am

I have Sandoval who can play 1st or 3rd, so I need to pickup a 1st or 3rd baseman from waivers. Who should I get?

Lyle Overbay
Billy Butler
Nick Johnson
Mike Jacobs
Jason Giambi
Bill Hall
Andy Laroche
Joe Crede
Ian Stewart

Also, I have good outfield depth, so I was thinking about trading Magglio Ordonez for Adrian Beltre. Is this a better idea that a waiver pickup? Leave a link and I will help in return.

This looks pretty thin. I'm not sure what kind of league this is, but right off the bat I would scratch Crede and Giambi, both have their best years far behind them. I'm not a believer in Andy LaRoche, he's had quite a bit of playing time and is still hovering around .200 (and laboring to do so). Mike Jacobs and Billy Butler are both in crowded situations in KC, and Jacobs OBP is anemic (under .300 last year). So that leaves us with Overbay, Johnson, Hall, and Stewart. I guess I would take Overbay from that group and hope he is still the 2B machine he used to be. Don't expect outstanding production, however.

As far as your trade idea for Beltre, assuming you have depth in the outfield I don't think its really going to hurt you, but keep realistic projections for Beltre in mind. I think that .260/25/90 is top end production for Beltre, and may be unrealistic considering his slow start.

I suffer with you on this one, Aramis is my 3B as well. Good luck!

Too me it comes down to Overbay, Stewart, and Butler in that order.

I dont really like Magglio for Beltre. See if you can get Atkins or someone like that first and if that fails do the Beltre trade. I dont really like Beltre and once Ramirez comes back what are you going to do with him?

When Aramis comes back, I could play Beltre at utility.
