Mauer and Vazquez for Adrian Gonzalez? WHIR

Postby Justblaze » Sun May 10, 2009 4:10 am

I am loving the production of Mauer and Javier right now, but should I sell them for Ad Gonz? Mauer and Javier were my 10 and 13th picks and Adrian was the other guys 5th pick. I like Selling my guys, but Mauer is definitely not a bad hitter. Just wonder what you guys think? Here is my roster below.

10 team 5x5 roto: Re-draft, EVERYONE STARTS EXCEPT 6 RESERVES

C:Ianetta,Mauer
1B:Howard
2B:O-dawg

U:Matsui

SP:Kazmir,Vazquez,Cain,Big-Unit,Edwin Jackson
RP:Lindstrom,Gregg,Aardsma,Ray

Reserves: A-ram, Inge, Chris Young (OF)
Reserves: Lackey,Carpenter,Big Z

I would do it you still have Ianetta at catcher aND I am not huge on edison and Gonzo is the best player in the deal.

Wait a second ... if I'm reading this right, you're saying this league starts 2 catchers, right?

Anyway, I like the idea of upgrading Matsui in your lineup by moving Mauer (since you'd still have Ianetta and Inge). But I think you're giving away a little too much. Throw out draft positions at this point in the season to justify a fair trade. The only reason Mauer didn't go around the same place (if not higher) as AGon is that everyone knew he was hurt to start the year. Now that he's healthy, Mauer can't be looked at as just 10th round talent. Anyway, I think Mauer and AGon are pretty close in value. If you were to include a SP, I'd like to see a lower ranked one. Maybe Jackson or RJ.

I am not sure. The difference between a free agent catcher and Mauer is greater than a free agent 1b and Gonzalez. I think Mauer is actually the best player in the deal, including position.

Even though I am a Padres and love Gonzo, I wouldbn't do this trade, as stated the difference between a FA catcher and Mauer is huge, and it seems he has learned to hit for power finally too without comprimising average, Gonzo is hot right now, but remember he plays at a ball park that will limit his abilities and we may see a drop in production slightly. Vasquez is a good pitcher, and at the moment your best pitcher on your roster. I would keep both players and see what type of hitter is on the WW and drop Matsui for him.

help with mine?

wouldn't do it either. I think it's a little bit too much to give up for Gonzo. Honestly, I like your team the way it is now. Mauer is just getting back now, and should be huge for you. Also, you've already got Howard at first.
